2? 93 civic ex help
ok so two problems first if i realy get on the gas when it shifts into a higher gear (automatic trans) i blow smoke out my exaust a good amount and it puts oil on my bumper and it only does it if i give it good gas if i just cruise it doesent do it. second is a trans problem for some reason again if i really get on the gas in first second third it doesnt really matter what gear my rpms will fly im talking 6-8k and still wont shift inless i take my foot off the gas from fear of blowing the engine ive asked freinds and fam no one knows hopefully somone here can help me out thanks a ton -Drew

1st problem is either valve seals, or piston rings most likely. I would do a compression and a leak down test to confirm.
2nd problem I have no idea. I don't own an AT. When I did, I never beat on it assuming it would break immediately.

ha i like the awnser to the 2nd and to the first ive done a compression test i wanna say it was 75 across the board im not sure what a leak down test is care to elaborate?Lastly ive posted to threads on this site and you have helped me with both of them and a greatly appretiate that its people like you that make this forum so awsome!!!!

if it could only be the rings then why is my compression test good wich from what i understand is how you check the rings and if its the rings then why would i need a new engine to fix it why wouldnt new rings fix it?

Its possible but highly unlikely that JUST the rings are worn out. Usually by the time your rings are that worn (to let oil into the combustion chamber to burn) your cylinder walls are all scored and damaged as well.
With how inexpensive the motors for these cars are, I don't see a lot of point in spending hundreds (if not >1k) to have someone fully rebuild the motor to repair all that damage, when a replacement could be had for less.
I'm sure I missed something in my ring description, feel free to tell me I'm wrong if anyone else has info
