well for example California has really strict regulations about what you can do to the car. In Iowa do they even hook up to your computer to do an inspection? or is it just a visual safety inspection? or do you even have inspection? lol.

you need a different ECU because the one you have isn't capable of controlling the butterflies for the secondary runners on the intake manifold. That's one reason the car feels slow. Only the GSR motor has that manifold. Of course it would also have to be wired up properly, and who knows if the last owner actually did that.

OBD2B P72 seems ideal -- but it won't work because the OBD2B Integra ECU's have a built in immobilizer that requires the original key. OBD2A P72 would require an adapter harness. OBD1 P72 would require an adapter harness and would not pass inspection in some states because the emissions controls are different.

that's kinda a summary for now. let me know if it doesn't make sense

Iowa doesn't really have strict emissions laws, as we don't have to have an inspection at all.

So I couldn't get a p72 and just hook it up directly it would take another harness of some kind? How much would that be? Cos the guy at the dealer told me that if I got the p72 and installed it it would be fine...

So I think that I might just order another b18c engine only and replace that rather then trying to find a b16a2 (they seem impossible) is there anything I should be weary about? Like engine and tranny not matching up properly?

no I haven't done anything yet, as this car might be useless to fix. Depending on if the dealer around here is willing I might trade it in for a 2000 integra ls or a 2000 civic ex......This car just has way to many issues that will end up getting super expensive. It was also wrecked and I took it to the body shop to see if it was repaired right, and it's not. There is paint chipping all over the place, the trunk is leaking because they didn't seal it up right. There is about 7500 bucks worth of repairs that would need to be done to this vehicle to get it to where I would be satisfied, and to me this car is not worth it...so if anybody wants to buy the car let me know! lol........
