Any idea what I would pay a mechanic to fix the clutch relay if that were the problem? Also, what would I expect to pay for the thermal protector?

Both are straightforward DIY jobs. The diagram shows how to replace the protector and the relays simply unplug from the hood fuse box.

OP will need to examine the car to see which type is actually in use.
Mk, the diagrams I posted were all taken from the 02-03 Civic Si manual. I am not sure whether there are variations on the A/C circuit of 7th generation Civics. You would know better than I.

Thank you! You guys are great. Just talked with Honda, they want around $65 for the protector and $270 in labor to replace it. I think I will be doing it myself.

You need to test your protector with a meter first and make sure that's really the problem.

Try swapping the relay next, seems likely that's the problem. Any further troubleshooting will require an inexpensive volt / ohm meter.

I am having a tough time locating the compressor. Would you happen to have a diagram to help me out. Thanks

Compressor is bolted to the bottom front of the engine on the driver's side where the belts are. Follow the metal line that goes over the engine near the driver's side fender and has a screw cap test fitting on it. The bottom end of that line is connected to the compressor. It may be hard to see from the top with the power steering pump in place. But you want to find the top of the compressor because that's where the thermal protector is. Though if you have the protector with separate plug I don't think that's going to be the source of the problem.
