84crx runs 10min then dies
Hello. About 6 months ago my CRX developed a water leak. I didn't mess with it for about 4 months. When I went back to try to find the leak I can't because the car doesn't run long enough to open the thermostat. It runs for about 10 minutes then dies. It will not start for about an hour after that. Any ideas? It runs strong when its running. Doesn't sound like anything is wrong but it just dies and won't start.
Actually was a good thing that it did because it got stolen while parked in the street after the water leak started and they only got about 5 blocks =)
Anyways if someone has an idea of what might be doing this please let me know. Thanks.

Probably it's the ignition module in the distributor. When it is dead check for spark. If no spark check that 12 volts is reaching the coil and if it is, the the module is probably bad. No 12 volts at the coil would mean a problem with the car wiring. That module is the only engine-related electronic part on the whole car, the rest should be all mechanical. I think around 1985 they went to an electronic tuned carb with a tiny computer, but the computer only controls the idle mixture.
If it was the ignition control module. You said in the distributor so would I just replace the distributor? I went to schucks and they said a control module(assuming thats what you are talking about) was 150 or 190 depending on if it was made in canada or america. They told me it was probably either the coil or the control module, didnt mention distrib. Thanks again for the help.
Yes the module is inside the distributor; you don't have to replace the whole distributor. It is rather expensive, I did a quick check and AutoZone sells them for about $86.
The coil is an old-style round coil mounted near the radiator, if you want to rule out the coil you should be able to borrow one from practically any old car.
