By the way, here's the proper firing order for the plug wires on the distributor cap. Civic cylinders are ordered 4-3-2-1 as you go from the distributor to the timing belt cover.

Does the CEL work? It should illuminate for 2 seconds and then turn off when the key is turned to ON(II). If the light works, jump the service connector to see whether any codes blink from the CEL.
