'93 Civic help
Ok, I have replaced a blown engine in my '93 Civic DX hatchback with a JDM D15B7. It will crank but will not fire. I have tried just about everything but, I'm about ready to drive this thing over a steep cliff.
Here's a list of everything I've tried:
-drained and replaced fuel, new fuel filter, cleaned and tested injectors and a new pressure regulator (it's getting fuel!!!!)
-replaced spark plugs, new cap/rotor, checked all 4 plugs for spark-OK.
-Checked and slightly adjusted cam timing. Question, should I time it from the pointer on the plastic cover or align the 2 "hash-marks" at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions on the cam sprocket with the surface of the head?
-Cleaned the crank sensor magnet and checked distributor components-OK.
-leaked down all 4 cylinders-ok.
-checked ecu for trouble codes, got a code 4 (crank sensor-checked out ok), reset computer and code hasn't come back up (yet). This led me to check distribtor components as described above.
-oil level-ok.
Other info:
Header getting hot after attempting to start, can smell exhaust fumes while cranking (not raw fuel out the exhaust). Won't even start with ether.

does it spark?
align it by lining up the TDC mark on the crank pulley with the mark on the plastic cover. then time the cam by dropping a dowel in the hole through the cam journal into the cam. it will hold it at TDC while you slip the belt on.
