Default 94 Civic EX a/c switch problem

I just got my a/c high pressure hose replaced (it was clearly leaking based on the dye) and one day later, no a/c. I took it back to the shop, and they said it was an electrical problem, probably the a/c switch sending a faulty ground to the compressor. It lights up, but the switch is bad. I believe them, since I had issues with the switch working intermittently from way before.

They wanted 75 bucks just to remove it and tell me accurately what the issue is (either the whole climate control unit, or just the a/c switch)

I've seen that part on ebay that I can get for under 75 bucks. It includes a heater cable. How do I go about replacing this whole piece? I don't even know where the heater cable goes connected (yeah, it goes to the heater, but where is it?) The guy at the shop said it's a pain, since it's accessed from the rear. I've checked online/youtube, but there doesn't seem to be any clear explanation on how to replace this part.

I'm not averse to working under the dash, but I kind of need a heads up as to how to take it apart (what to pull/push on, what to disconnect, etc.)

Any help would be appreciated.

Default Howto remove climate Control on a civic EG

I'm answering to this post because I couln't find any info on removing the Climate control in detail.

It is actually very easy to do:

1. remove the console that has the cigarette lighter and ashtray
2. remove radio
3. unhook heater cable from under/behind glove compartment, its a round end just slide out.
4. There are 3 phillip screws, 2 in the front to the side and under the climate control and one straight in the back
Remove the front ones with and "S" shape phillip screwdriver and the one in the back with a long phillip screwdriver. Once these are removed the unit is free.
5. Pull unit out slowly making sure you don't bend the heater cable.

You are done... Install in reverse order.

It should take about 30 minutes to do...
