94 DX Hatchback: A Few Issues.
So I have a 94 DX Hatch (258,5XX miles-if it makes a difference) and would appreciate any help with the following issues that I'm currently having with my car...
1) I recently got the AC recharged (maybe 3-4 months ago) and it doesn't blow cold air. Heat works fine. I'm thinking there may be a leak somewhere?
2) My speedometer does not work 85% of the time. It will jump from 0mph-60mph and back to 0mph. Or sometimes it will just stay at 0mph. And then sometimes it will work completely fine. I have no idea what's going on here. (I have a video of this, I'll try to post it)
3) Check engine light is on ONLY when the speedo isn't working, I'm assuming the 2 coincide with each other.
4) When I start my car, about 60% the radio will not come on and if it does come on it's anywhere between 2 and 15 minutes from when the car is turned on and has been driving for a bit.
5) The temperature gauge has recently been increasing rising when the car is idle and when the car has been running with the AC on. I know that is common for any car, but it happens so quickly. Maybe 5-10 minutes into the ride (2-3 minutes when idling) the temperature gauge rises dramatically. I'm unsure if this is the norm for Civics & I'm just being a tad dramatic, or if it's a real issue.
I do love my Civic and I hope these are simple fixes. Thanks so much for any input & advice you guys have!

1. Yes, probably leaked out. If there's any pressure left, go over all the connections with an electronic leak detector. Do not try a "leak stop" product!!! They don't work.
2. This is most likely because the signal from the speed sensor (on the top back of the transmission) is going away. Check the plug on the sensor first see if it is loose or corroded. Also note if the odometer stops too. If the odometer is actually still rolling normally the sensor is OK.
3. Yes, the ECU checks for signal from the speed sensor. Any time the CEL has come on you can read out the code.
4. Almost certainly the radio itself.
5. This is a major problem. Normally, the temperature gauge should come up to normal about halfway up and then stay at exactly the same reading throughout any driving conditions. Check that the system is full (check in the radiator when cold) and that the radiator fan works. On the 94 the radiator and A/C condenser are completely separate with a dedicated fan for each.
