Hey there, so the guy I got the car from said he replaced the main relay but the fuel pump was going bad. the car ran well for a couple of days.then I went out of town and it set for a weekend when I got back it would crank but never start. I replaced the fuel pump and it started. The next morning it just cranked. I had it towed to my friends shop and the first time he tried it started he kept it for a couple of days and it started each day. I picked it up and took it to school then when I tried to leave it would just crank. My friend told me to turn the key to the on position then off then on and off a few times then leave it on untill the CEL goes off and then it started. The next morning it just cranked tried the key trick but nothing. It was sitting in my back yard for a month. Id turn it on every so often sometimes it would only crank sometimes it would start. I changed the main relay again cause when the key is in the on position the pump doesnt kick on. I was going to test the power on the fuel pump today but it turned on....idk what else to do someone please help!

 

Forgot to mention I replaced the fuel pump twice.

 

If the CEL sometimes does not go off it's either the main relay or the ECU. (A bad fuel pump would have the relay and light cycling on and off like it should, but the pump wouldn't run). Even though the main relay is allegedly new it could still be bad, take it out and resolder it. If that doesn't help you probably need to replace the ECU.
