Default 97 Civic makes grinding noise when put into drive

Hey guys!

I have a 97 Civic Coupe, automatic transmission, and when I put the car out of park, it makes a kind of constant grinding noise. The noise seems to be coming from the front of the car. From what I've read online, the grinding noise seems to have something to do with the transmission? Any further suggestions on what the problem is? Any help would be more than appreciated! Thanks

Does the noise continue while the car is moving, or only when it is idling at a stop? If the latter, and it is kind of a tinny rattling noise, that is usually just a heat shield.

It does seem to happen more when the car is just idling. Thanks for the info! I'll check it out.
