Default 98 civic "chirp" in second gear.

I dont know if its a belt or what... but it sounds almost as if i'm peeling out a little bit, but it happens on gravel. Its only when i'm letting out the clutch in second and revving the engine slightly as i let it out. hmmm....

it worries me :-p

anyone have anything similar happen to them?

I had this issue in my 1999. It's aspring in the transmission linkage, I believe. If it is that, it's nothing to worry about, but couldn't hurt to have a look at a Technical Service Bulletin, or talk to a Tech that's knoweldgeable about that generation of Honda.
