Default Alternator Prob??

Hey, I think my alternator maybe on the way out but I have another problem and was wondering if it may be caused by the alternator.

My battery light flashes on and off depending on the RPM of the engine (on at high RPM off or dim at low)

All other electrical dims as well with low RPM and the heater fan slows (basically all electrical)

Anyway, the car seems to have a lot less power recently and has an awful tick (misfiring??)

When idling engine RPM gets very low, but has yet to stall.

Could all this be caused by the alternator? If not, what could be the cause of the rough engine?

Thanks
Joe

I'm think those can all be results of a bad alternator....does the car start back up or is the batery dead....how long has this been going on? Maybe a voltage regulator going bad?

Hasn't been goin on for too long...maybe a couple of weeks - haven't had the cash to get it fixed!! But the car starts right back up every time - haven't had an issue with the battery yet and I doubt if I will. Voltage regulator is exactly what I've been thinking too because as the RPM increases the amplifier in my stereo system cuts out from what I'm thinking is protection mode for too much voltage. Is a voltage regulator something I can replace myself??

Thanks again
Joe
