Battery Light Flashing On 05 Civic
Hi Guys,
Been checking alot of the posts for various solutions and thought it might be better to get various solutions.
I have a 2005 Civic with battery light that flashes rapidly when I start my car. The light remains on for about 5-10 minutes afterwards it disappears. While the light is on I noticed the AC blows a bit slower than normal. Also the wipers run at low speed when I set it to max. Once the light is off everything resumes normally.
I had Honda check the car along with a Type C inspection, oil change, etc. They tested the battery plus alternator and the conclusion was a defective alternator. Since the cost is about $600 to replace I decided to get a second opinion from another mechanic. He tested both components and said the alternator works great but the battery is dying. Anytime he puts a load on it it drops to 8v. He replaced the battery but the problem persists.
I plan on returning to the dealer next week. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i had the same problem a few months ago with my civic i replace the battery and everything and it still had the problem. it turned out to be the alternator. have you alternator tested(autozone does it for free). it sounds like the alternator is defective so you might want to have the alternator tested for sure

Replace the alternator.
If you are willing to do the work yourself, replacing the alternator will be significantly less than $600. You can buy a rebuilt alternator for about $100 (lifetime warranty) or a new alternator for $250-$300.

Thanks for the replies guys. Changed out the alternator today and everything is running smoothly. Came on special this week at Canadian Tire and I saved $50 by returning back the defective core. Everything is coming up Milhouse LOL.
