Yes I removed the caliper bracket. What I believe the issue was that I waited 100,000 miles. The rotor is extremely corroded. I think it just started to fall apart at points as I was trying to remove it.

At this point I am hoping to make small talk with a local mechanic and hopefully get some help.

Be sure the two screws are drilled out completely. You don't have to replace them, they are only there to keep the rotor from falling off while the car is on the assembly line. In normal use, attaching the wheel with the lug nuts holds the rotor on even without the little screws. Do not use a lot of heat because that can damage the wheel bearing. You may need to take the steering knuckle off of the car and take it to a shop to try to force it apart. Or replace with a used knuckle / bearing / hub assembly that doesn't have the rotor rusted onto it.

Okay so I work at a place that has a few mechanics on staff so I went over there and was chatting nicely with them and got two of them to come by and help me.

They kinda put me to shame and were able to help me out pretty easily. They agreed that the two little set screws are more or less useless/extra pieces. They got me all squared away and they didn't even need a torch.

So much for my career as a mechanic I guess. :0(
