I have a 2002 Civic LX sedan and had the battery replaced at an auto parts store. When the technician removed the rear battery tie down, it broke off where the threads start (it is a L-shaped rod with threads at the straight end like in the attached pic). The store did not have the right size - all were too long. I wanted to know what size rod is the correct size or part number. Thanks.

 

most of the aftermarket ones are intended to be very long so they work on various different vehicles as a replacement battery hold down or a different kind of hold down. it should be threaded down quite far usually far enough so the holding nuts or wing nuts whichever is used will still hold the battery and the extra nčeds to be cut off. you can also just buy some 1/4 20 threaded rod and bend an L on the bottom. yes im aware the whole car is metric and thats sae thread its just easier to get than metric threaded rod. that way you can just make 2 to the length you want.
