help with inner tie rod end
I have had a clunking sound under my car for awhile and have found out that it is an inner tie rod end that needs to be replaced. My Haynes manual has instructions for replacing an outer tie rod end, but nothing that I can find for replacing an inner one (seems strange). Can anyone point me in the right direction for instructions on this repair for a 1995 Civic 4 door DX MT? Thanks for your help once again,
Andy

DO NOT REMOVE THE RACK. All you have to do is get 2 19mm (or 3/4 same thing) and a 1-1/8" wrench (or mm equivelent) Carefully push the rubber boot back (towards the main body of the rack) it will slightly hang up on the inner tie rod knuckle. Once this is exposed loosen the lock nut on the inner tie rod where it meets the outer tie rod. Next- take the large wrench and loosen the inner tie rod untill it is off the rack. You will also need a 14mm wrench to unscrew the inner tie rod from the outer tie rod. Take note of the amount of turns as you back out the old inner tie rods. You will need to reinstall the new parts with the same amount of turns for a ball park alignment. Make sure you get the 2 pcs of old retainer tabs that break off the lock washer on the rack end. Spray some sort of lubricant on the old inner tie rods while you are removing the rubber boot keepers. The figures already posted are quite accurate. I did a set today on a 95civic. It took 30 mins for the complete job on a lift in the air. The parts came from Oreily's $17.00 each for generics- $75.00 each for Moog's
