You're burning 1 quart of oil every 100 miles and there is no smoke?

mac tools makes a machine that blows smoke at about 100psi . you blow smoke into different ports, valves, or what have you and watch where smoke escapes from....hopefully nothing leaks where it shouldn't

Take the plugs out and inspect them. If one is really oily and the rest clean, that's the problem cylinder. If it's the one that had a bad valve before, the piston/cylinder/rings may have been damaged by pieces of the valve. If they're all oily maybe you got a really bad rebuild job with the wrong valve seals or something.

Does it smoke at idle, or just when you drive it?

Did you consider running a compressoin test to see if your rings are at fault?

compression was 185-190, leak down test was @1%of 100psi ? so there shouldn't be a problem there. is there anything else on the intake side of motor that could cause this besides rings and valves?
