A/C UNIT
I have a 98 civic EX and when i turn my ac on, its shakes my car a little, like my steering wheel and its really annoying how it shakes, is there something i can do or change or something so that it wont do that when i turn it on? thanks
I'm assuming you only notice the rumble at idle, if at other speeds then there is likely a fault in the compressor.
At idle there is really no bypassing it, save for turning the a/c off when sitting at a stop light or the like. The cause is the increased load placed on the engine at such a low rpm, usually around 750 rpm(idle). The rumble is you feeling the individual pulses as each cylinder fires. You only notice it with the a/c on because of a) the increased load, therefore each cylinder has to fire 'stronger' to keep it at idle, also with the increased load the engine idle can actually drop down a little (more common on older vehicles, as compressors were not as efficient) which only further enhances the vibration felt.
