Default Cam sensor problem

I have a 2005 Civic coup with 93000 miles. I just had the timing belt, water pump, and engine and transmission mounts replaced. About a week later, the car starts making a high pitched noise and lost power. When I took it in, they told me the alternator belt had slipped loose and the cam sensor needed to be replaced. Is it possible that the cam sensor was damaged during the timing belt replacement? It seems su****ious to me considering the placment of the part, but they still want me to pay for the part and labor. Any thoughts?
