Back door was broken into on my 1999 civic and now it is locked and we can't open the door. I can't remove the inside door panel. Any ideas?

 

More information might help. For example, what exactly is impeding you from unlocking the door?

Can you post some pictures?

 

I took the inside handle off so I could get at the rods. There is no resistance when I move the door open rod (as if it is disconnected) and the lock rod will not move. I think when someone tried to break into it they bent, broke or disconnected something.

Have you tried muscling the lock rod? If you push it to the unlocked position, then you might be able to open the door using the outside door handle.

Alternatively, a locksmith might be able to open the door using a Slim Jim tool.
