also, you said something about the map sensor not being right. if im not mistaken, with more than 10psi of boost, you need to you a different one because it cant read that much pressure. so again, we need to know how much boost it is running

so, im guessing that there is no boost gauge... where you ever able to get the engine number?

First I'd consider the key switch. Pull up the brake handle and make sure the BRAKE light stays on all the time when you're cranking and also after you let go of the key to the run position.

Is the ignition system stock? The ICMs can get so they work for a short time then quit until they cool off again. You should check for sparks when it is not wanting to start.

I don't think a bad MAP sensor will always cause complete failure to start. You can check it with a voltmeter. I think it's like 3.6 volts on the signal wire with key on and engine not running. If you apply pressure and vacuum to the sensor the voltage should vary.
