Default Catalytic Converter

Where can I buy a catalytic converter in CA? Everywhere I look, it says except CA. So where do I get the damn thing other than the dealer? Can I use a out of CA cat or will it not pass?

Working on a 99 Civic EX.

Amazon.com. That's where I'm getting mine. It should arrive tomorrow. The local parts store has it for $518, with the extras. The same thing from Amazon is $160.

CA has stricter rules about things regarding emissions. Maybe your local Honda dealership?

Should be able to use an online dealer as long as you make sure they send the California version. Or try a used one. From what I understand, generally only stock parts are legal in California.

The really cheap ebay "high flow cats" are just hollow shells.

The one I got yesterday from Amazon is identical to the one the auto parts store has for more than twice the price - honeycomb and all.

I wonder if it's just a lie and they are all the same. They just want people in CA to pay hundreds more to keep us in check so we don't mess with our stuff.

Hey jerryc41, how did you get your name?

My first name and the initial of my last name, with a number that the web site would accept. Why do you ask?

Default Ebay...

I bought mine off of Ebay. Had the same problem until I just wrote an e-mail to one and they said they have it. Paid around 220 i think. They were in tennesse. TSAuto might of been their name. Hope it helps. Also you need the CA one due to the O2 port located where it is.
