Default CEL on 2 codes

1999 Civic EX
1st code P0705
Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction(2 pos)
2nd code P1337
Crankshaft Position Sensor 2 no signal

What exactly do these mean and from all outward appearances the car is running fine...Is it okay to continue driving it?

The crank sensor on distributor OBDII models is just to detect if the timing belt has skipped. All the critical timing signals come from other sensors in the distributor. So you can ignore it. It's common for the sensor wires to get caught in the pulley or belt if they aren't installed properly.

The other one apparently has something to do with the automatic transmission, which I know little about.

With an EX, if the CEL is on for any reason, the engine will have a lower rev limiter and the VTEC will never engage. This really isn't an issue in daily driving though.
