Default Check Engine Light...

Well my check engine light came on a few days ago but the engine doesn't seem to be running any differently. My dad doesn't want to pay the $50 to find out why the light came on so is there a way to pull the codes without an analyzer to find out what is wrong?

yeah, go to someone who doesn't charge $50. Who charges $50? Go to Autozone or something. They will do it for free

Depends on your year I guess. I know you can do it on 84-95 models, I do not have experienece with newer ones.

This will work for 92-95. 88-91 are different, and 84-87 are different from those two. I wouldn't be surprised if every generation has its own procedure

it will also work for 88-91 hondas, but for those years, you don't need to jump the connector because there's a light on the ecu where you can just count the blinks.

If your car is OBD II (96+) then all you have to do is take the car to AutoZone and they will pull the code for free. Otherwise you have the jump the connector and count the flashing light. I think there is a DIY on pulling codes.
