Default Crazy high revving at start

Hi everyone, new here! I searched for this problem but couldn't find a specific answer.

I just recently got a 2010 Civic with only factory miles on it... and everything was perfectly fine. But just a few days ago (around 1000 miles now) I noticed that as soon as I started the car, it peaked at normal RPMs, came down a little bit and then shot off to around 6000 or so RPMs. All of this happened within a few seconds but still a bit concerning. I shrugged it off as a fluke. Then, I went to start the car during the middle of today and the same thing happened. What would cause this and should I still be concerned?

I think you should be concered. That shouldnt be happening. I would take it to the dealer and see what they have to say about it.

Have you ever heard of that happening before and what it could be? I'd feel a little better about it until I get it to them if I knew what it was. Plus it would probably help to sound like I know what could POSSIBLY be going on...

I think they have a "drive by wire" system similar to the Toyotas that have been in the news lately. So this kind of thing should be taken seriously.
