Default CV Axle Install problem

I'm installing a replacement cv axle and cannot get the transmission end to seat properly into the transmission. Am I missing some simple trick to do this? It is about an inch away from being in there and I've tried everything I can possibly think of to get it in there.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers.

are u sure the circlip that was on the end of the original axle came out of the transmission? if it has, u positive u have the correct axle? if u are, u'll likely have to push the axle into the transmission with a good amount of force. it can sometimes be difficult to get those circlips to engage within the transmission and hold the axle in place.

Yeah, the original circlip came out. I went back to the parts store to compare the new axle to the core I had taken back already and visually they're the same. I just can't imagine that it would be possible to hit this thing any harder than I already have. Figured I was missing some trick.
