'D' indicator flashing
I purchased a 2003 Honda Civic. Nearly 80,000 KM.
I notice that the 'D' indicator keeps on flashing during driving and even when the lever is shifted to 'P'.
I did not notice any other problem. Please advice.
Thanks.

When the car is moved the 'D' indicator is lighted as it should happen.
But, after a few minutes , instead of going OFF, it starts blinking. The blinking continues even when the lever is changed to 'R' or 'P'. !!

This is how civics display transmission error codes. The "D" Indicator blinks a certain number of times to indicate which code it is. You'll have to refer to the Honda shop manual, or maybe, a haynes or chilton manual. I am sure this is what is happening.
How about me. My D4 light went out for a while, never came on at all, and D3 D2 and all the others highlighted normaly, but just the other day i hopped in the car, and it was on again. It hasn't gone off again lately, wonder if its a short?
^ It might not be a short, how they connect is by a slider type switch. It can get gunked up and not work right. The car is still in the right gear and all because the linkage is seperate from the switch, but the lights get all wonky.
At least they did on my Accord.

I have the "D" blinking while in gear only along with the check engine light. This idicates a problem in the transmission control which is why it only shifts from 1st - 3rd gear. The error code was for the speed sensor but its an intermittent problem. My guess is that I ran over a stick that wacked a wire, not sure where the sensor or wires are. Its in the shop now, I'm guessing they'll replace the sensor...$$$ great.
