and also the a6 timing belt has 1 more tooth than the b7 so that'd just make more slack, so thats out of the question

A6 belt has 107 teeth
B7 belt has 106 teeth

The gear won't pick up any slack, it has the same number of teeth and is the same size. The only difference between the Y8 cam gear and the one you already have is that the woodruff key slot is 1/2 a tooth off. The only thing this changes is the synchronicity between the cam and crank, not the amount of slack the belt has.

I think you need a VX timing belt.

is cylinder 1 and 4 both supposed to be at the top of the block or just cylinder 1

Cylinders 1 and 4 are always in the same position as one another.
