Dash lights go dim ?

Dash lights go dim ?
Hi all, jsut a daft question really, on my civic 93 esi dash there are push buttons to select the heater dispercement with leds in them, they are bright untill i put the lights on then they go really dim alomg with the Auto tranny display on the dash between the fuel/water guage, is this normal or should they stay brightish.....

head unit doesnt power up anymore and the dash radio seems dim and is always reseting at 1 o'clock..
