Default Diagnosing Blower Motor Failure

Hi there,

newbie here....so be gentle.

I'm currently diagnosing a fault on my 2002 civic where the blower motor isn't working. I've run the DTC check which indeed indicated a fault in the blower motor circuit. I've checked the two fuses and both are fine.

I've searched on these forums and have found this

on the blower motor there is a connector with 2 wires going to it ..a white/blue and a blue/black

chk to see if you get power with the key on at the white/blue

and ground at the blue/black

if you get both you got a bad motor
ok, so i've removed the lower kick panel and have found the connector - silly question but could you describe in simple terms how i perform these tests - i'm armed with a digital voltmeter.

just an update, i put the meter across the two pins of the connector and am getting 12v, odd thing is i get that even when the fan dial is 'off'

Since you have 12 volts across the two pins yet the motor doesn't run, that means the motor is bad.

There may be a slight normal leakage in the circuit so the voltage doesn't go away with the control off.
