Default Diagnosing Blower Motor Failure

Hi there,

newbie here....so be gentle.

I'm currently diagnosing a fault on my 2002 civic where the blower motor isn't working. I've run the DTC check which indeed indicated a fault in the blower motor circuit. I've checked the two fuses and both are fine.

I've searched on these forums and have found this

on the blower motor there is a connector with 2 wires going to it ..a white/blue and a blue/black

chk to see if you get power with the key on at the white/blue

and ground at the blue/black

if you get both you got a bad motor
ok, so i've removed the lower kick panel and have found the connector - silly question but could you describe in simple terms how i perform these tests - i'm armed with a digital voltmeter.

many thanks,

john.

Since you have 12 volts across the two pins yet the motor doesn't run, that means the motor is bad.

There may be a slight normal leakage in the circuit so the voltage doesn't go away with the control off.
