Default Dizzy Question

Okay, this is weird. Every now and then my check engine light comes on with the code for a intermittent TDC sensor signal, one time it also had the speed sensor code too (but that was when the speedo didn't work, but then it started to work again). Ever since the TDC sensor code came on, it has been harder to start the car (starter has to turn the engine over more times before it starts) and the fuel economy has gone down. I was wondering would a faulty TDC sensor be causing the problem? I do not know if I may have some bare wires somewhere, or would I really need a new distributor assembly?

bump!
How about this question, would a bad TDC sensor cause my car to start sluggishly or get bad gas mileage, like 25mpg?

Yes, it's possible. Try replacing the distributor housing.

Ok, I was kind of worried that it might be the timing being off. Or some sort of bare wires touching when the wire harness goes through the firewall.

You can also check for an intermittent short or open in the TDC wires running between the distributor and ECU. You can also test the resistance of the TDC sensor itself. See your manual at link in my signature.

I see all of the manuals, but which one would I need for a 97 Civic DX Sedan?

The 96-98 Civic manual should be fine. If you additionally need detailed circuit diagrams, also download the 96-00 manual.
