Default Engine Rebuilding Question: Bearings

rebuilding 1988 1.5 leter (1493 cc) honda civic engine.
Question about main crankshaft bearing.
can the main bearing be changed out without taking the engine out.
I have the 1 piece main bearing assembly out, and thus of course the bottom half of the main bearing. can the top half be tapped out (round the semi-circle and continued on) to come out ?

Default RE: Engine Rebuilding Question: Bearings

Its near impossible the flywheel has to come off.It is much easier with clearence checks and torque specs with the motor out.
