Excessive Smoke & Slow Accel
I need some help with troubleshooting my 95 dx manual. Its bone stock with 180K
The Problem: When accelerating on first gear, it's very slow (feels like the fuel is not combusting even when I floor it). In a couple seconds, the combustion finally takes place and accelerates normally throughout 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. When its warm, I also noticed excessive white smoke or steam coming from the exhaust when I try to accelerate during 1st gear. It produces excessive smoke/steam during idle as well.
I thought maybe it was a plugged fuel filter because I forgot to change it during my last tune up. Let me know what you think.
Recent replacements: O2, tune up, timing belt.

Yeah now that I look at what had happend. I think I might have blown the head gasket for sure because the reason why I overheated was because I found a small crack in my radiator at the bottom. I never noticed it until now. It's been three months since I replaced my water pump and I hadn't checked my radiator fluid since.
Yeah I'm pretty much broke, I think I have about only 300 bucks to spare to repair any damages. If it is a blown head gasket, I'll probably take it apart and send it to a shop to get it machined. I guess it's time for me to buy a book. Is it difficult to get to the heads? Never taken a d15 apart before.

No need to buy a book, if by book you mean service manual. Go to this site http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto/Manuals/Civic/ and download the appropriate helms manual for your Civic. It'll tell you anything you need, complete with diagrams.

Thanks for the link itin. Yeh I meant service manuals. And those online manuals are great. I can just sit my laptop on a chair while I work. I'm probably gonna start disassembling sometime thursday. I'll let you know if I have any specific questions.

For your consideration:
It's possible that replacing the head of your overheated engine may not be a fix because the engine is too warped. You should therefore consider replacing the entire engine, which in the end may be a less expensive and frustrating experience.
