Front lower control arm snafu
Well where to begin. I have a 95 DX and the bushing are shot on the front LCA. I bought replacements and decided to attempt a repair yesterday. Everything starts out well until I get to the large bushing with it's own bracket. I get 2 of the 3 bolts out that hold it on but the 3rd messed up on me. I got it out about 1/4 of an inch and here a metal crunch sound and it suddenly broke loose and started to spin freely
. I had to grind a notch in the bracket to slip it out past the bolt and get the arm off.
After replacing the bushings (one of the circles of hell in itself) I go to put the arm back on. After fighting to get 1 of the bolts almost all the way in in (it came out really hard and almost seemed larger that the hole it was in) it made the same noise and dropped a half an inch(spins freely as well).
So now 1 bolt out of 3 is holding that bracket on and I would like to increase that to 2 maybe even 3.
My question is this, can I get access to where these bolts thread in? Has anyone had this happen before? If I pull the carpet up will that give me access? I suspect that its a nut welded down and the welds have let go. If I can get at them from the top I should be able to secure that mount again.
Any info would be helpful.

Well there is no way to access the top of the bolts from inside the car. The crossmember that it bolts to appears to be hollow butwith no access to them either. The bolts were in most of the way when they broke loose so we fabbed up some shims to wedge between the bolt and the bracket and welded them in. It doesn't look the prettiest but it isn't going anywhere.
