the hinge is going to need a little attention. It may need to be bent a tad.......and im sure some good ol' WD40 wouldnt hurt it either.

And make sure that when your pulling on your release lever its actually PULLING. You may have a snapped cable or there may be excess slack.

That happened to me once on my old Civic. Release cable was still working and all, I think I just had to bend the tab on the door a little bit.

How did you get it open??

i was able to get it open by gently pushing my key in the door gap on the tab side and pushing inward and pulling outward. the wierd thing is is when i pull on the handle it doesnt want to move at all. i even tried vice grips and it didnt budge but i did not want to use to much force. just a little history on the car . i just bought it and got it home its a 93 cx it sat for a little while but the guy wasnt for sure how long but at least a few mos.

hehe... mine was a 93... and I got it open with my swiss army knife.

Sounds like you need to lube the release cable somewhere, but I don't know where.

i pushed down on the fuel opener. nope wont open...i opened the trunk, removed the side carpeting & found the cable end (actuator) & turned it,, sucess it popped open. got gas then had to reinstall it to close the door. Dealer says it costs $160. ouch

This may help out others with this problem . You can purchase a repair kit for the fuel door release cable at this web site Fuel Door Fix
It is easy to install and cheaper that a new cable!

For some reason I got weird feeling that those three noobs are working together for the same advertizing agency. Sorry if I'm wrong.
