Fuel Filter-04 Honda civic EX
I just started having an issue with my car hesitating on acceleration. I just changed the spark plugs, they were BAD. It seems to have helped a little, but I think I still felt a little hesitation while accelerating. I don't think the person who had this car before me took care of it at all. Each time I put something new in it, it seems to drive only better and better. I even noticed that my idle wasn't as rough as it has been since changing the plugs today. But can someone give me a break down on how to change the fuel filter? I heard that it was in the gas tank?
I know that my car does need a new 02 sensor. Could this cause the interruption between shifting gears? I heard that it can, but if anything I understand it can really affect gas mileage and not much else.
Help would be much appreciated. Also, anything else I should look at when looking into this issue?

a simple drain and fill could make shifting alot better.yes the fuel filter is located inside the gas tank and is a pain in the azz to replace maybe first try using a fuel system cleaner like seafoam and see if that helps.

A drain and fill of the tranny fluid? Don't I have to take off the back seat in order to get to the fuel filter? As stated this is an 04 honda civic EX.
Also one other thing I want to run by you guys, at times i've noticed my car getting hot. About 3/4 of the temp guage and sometimes higher. Today I drove it for about 45 minutes with a lot of stopping going and then on the freeway, and not one issue. Does this just sound like a stuck thermostat?

I would pay particular attention to the coolant levels in both the radiator and overflow with the car running hot. Thread attached below...but an 04 Civic could be due for the head gasket going bad as mine has. If you notice the coolant level in the radiator low yet there is always coolant in the overflow tank then you could have a head gasket going.

a drain and fill of the transmission fluid could make better shifting. if the car overheats in traffic you could have air in the coolant system. when the car is cold remove the radiator cap then set your heat to full hot then start the car and look for air bubbles coming from the radiator when the bubbles stop replace the cap. if that doesn't work you could possibly have a blown head gaskit.
