Default Fuel Filter

got a 1996 honda civic ex sedan manual transmission just about to turn 100,000 miles original owner.

the dealer has never suggested changing the fuel filter (and I don't see it in the manual) and it has never been changed.

my question is the car is running like a top and I am getting around 30 mpg with mostly city driving

is the fuel filter on these cars just something you change if there are problems? or is it something to be done regularly.

I am assuming the first choice since the car is running like a top and I have always been a if it ain't broke don't fix it type of guy.

thanks for the forum.
