Gas cover won't open

Angry Gas cover won't open

I have a 2005 Honda Civic DX. The switch for the gas lever located on the drivers side floor won't pop open the gas cover. I am unable to put any gas in my car. Please help with any assitance you can offer. Thank you!

When you pull the lever (its still manual on them right?) Do you feel any resistance, like its pulling the cable ? or is it all floppy? (the handle i mean) If its all floppy, you might have a broken cable, and could possibly reach in and grab it with some pliers and pull it.... if its still pulling the cable, have someone pull the handle, while you go back CAREFULLY with a small flatblade screw driver, wrapped in a rag/paper towel(so it doesnt scratch the car up), and stick it in the gap between the gascap door, and 1/4 panel, and GENTLY try and pop it (again, while the handle is pulled) If that pops it open, make sure to clean the latch assembly, and lube it generously ! WD40 or some silicone lube spray works.
Aside from that, I'd need some more details to get a better idea of whats going on...

how long have you tried playing around with it?
same thing happened with my hood, it was really annoying until i figured out what was wrong.
