Gas Tank won't open

Hey, the gas tank on my 04 civic won't pop open when I push the lever. is there a way to manually open this and would this be an easy fix for a DIYer?

Maybe look at the AD on the side for fuel door fix --------------------------->
it should be under vendors
7th gen civics for some reason have this problem.
