What was the cause of all the issues? Was the crank and or cam not set to top dead center when the thing was reassembled thus throwing the timing out of whack? Was the gasket bad, manifold cracked, did the car have Lupus?? I am currently in the middle of chnaging my head gasket on my '01 civic and very interested in any problems you encountered and their fixes.

Hey dailydriver, the original problem was a very badly blown head gasket. Read thread from the start for a lot of good advise.

I got that you were replacing your head gasket, but you listed a ton of other issues you had after the gasket was replaced: poor performance at higher RPM, rough idle, etc. and comments like "I'm already su****ious of this new gaskets performance"
I am wondering what was the cause of the issues that you encountered after the head gasket was replaced and the engine reassembled?
