heater help please
Yes heat is hot method, and jim im not techinically minded about cars, could you explain it more simply to me
. Someone mentioned to me that it could be the the little card shape thing under the glove box thats about the same size as bank card?, thx guys
.
First, when you say heater settings 1,2,3,etc I'm guessing you mean the blower speeds?
Blower speed is controlled by resistors, & when any one fails, that setting and all slower settings quit working. The set of speed-control resistors is usually installed into the blower housing, somewhere buried in the dashboard.
I could put a picture, but I don't know what year/model you have. The Civic has been around since the mid '70s, and they're not all exactly the same...

Yes m8 my blower speeds, and my car is a 5dr hatch 2000 vtis. My friend said to me that his heater would only work on number 4, he replaced the littlecredit card sizethingy under the glove box, he just soldered along it and joined the lines back up, im not sure if all cars are the same though with it under the glove box, cheers m8
What's a VTIS? Must be a model we don't get in USA...
Maybe like #5 here (USA 4-door Civic LX)? If you're lucky, all the 2000 versions will be about the same.
Unfortunately, the picture isn't very good for telling exactly where it is & how to remove it.

Hi all, i replaced the little resistor under the dash which fixed the problem, BUT today i stopped getting hot air from the vents, its bloody freezing now, any ideas or solutions on what this could be, thx all regards

The heat of course comes from the engine thru the cooling system. If the temperature gauge is staying at cold, you will not get hot air. Also the heater not working is a sign that there may not be enough coolant in the system, so check that the radiator is full. There should be some coolant in the plastic tank, but also with the engine cold, take the radiator cap off and make sure the radiator itself is full to the top.
I think that version will have a water valve on the firewall where the hoses from the engine go to the heater. When you turn the control inside the car from colc to hot, the lever on the valve should move.
