I was driven my civic and outa nowhere i here a rattle sound every time i accelerate which soundede like my cat,converter,,and so idint worry that much...and so i continued driven and it got worse and worse sounden..so i poped the hood and it was maken a nockin sound....so i tried driven it home and got about a mile away and i herd a pop sound and then smoke started comin out.and there wasa small trail of oil it looked like couldnt tel cause of it bein dark....and now my car doesnt start at all not even with remote start.....so idk if the whole motors locked up..or if its another issue with the motor that can fixed and not worry abojut getn a new car............. !!!!!!!!!!HELP !!!!

 

Did the oil warning light turn ON?

Check for engine oil below the car and check the oil level using the dipstick. Attempt to locate any leak. For example, is there a hole in the side of the engine block?

 

well if the thing wont start up and you heard a pop chances are the motor is trashed....

the pop could have been a rod going thru the motors block.... so jack the car up and look for any holes in the block front and back.....
if ya seen a oil trail chances are its a hole....

it could have also been when you changed the oil last the old oil filter gasket stuck to the block and you didnt remove it, and after awhile the gasket finaly blew out. (happened to me BUT i got lucky and the oil light came on at a stop light and from what ive heard honda oil light doesnt come on till shes almost dead.... luckely i killed it in time and had my dad come with tools and oil and a jack and i pulled off the oil filter to find that i had 2 gaskets on it, i just pulled one gasket off and filled the oil back up. and it started right up with no future problems....
i also had oil additive which i added before when i got the car. they work great and can give you alittle more oil starved life.

but since you didnt kill the motor instantly.... its not good news!
i might start looking into a new motor....

 

Yes this sounds like what happens when you run out of oil. If that's the case you need a new engine not necessarily a new car.
