Hot wired car, What could be wrong?
Hey guys,
I just bought a '95 Civic real cheap as it was broken into and the owner had had enough of fixing it. The story is here.

Anyway, I was just wanting more people's opinion on what could be wrong with it. The cover around the steering column was busted off, but no wires look like they've been cut. I put the key in and turn it, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I have to hook it up to a battery charger and as soon as it starts to charge the warning buzzer sounds and all the accessories are able to be used, like it's stuck in the accessory position on the keyhole.
So did they more than likely just jam a screwdriver in the keyhole and turn to start it, so now it is busted inside and I need to replace the whole thing or what? I am really new to these car and could use whatever advice you guys can give me. Is it easiest to just replace the whole column as that seems like a lot of work for just the ignition switch?
