Default knocking..

hey, Had my 95 cx for about 2 weeks now, everythings alright but lately I've been noticing a knocking sound when I start it up in the morning. The sound goes away once the engine warms up a little. could this be an ignition issue? I've also noticed a bit of carbon forming around the inside of my exaust, maybe a carbon build up of some sort? what are some things I could do to narrow it down a bit? I dont think it could be worn out internals because the sound does go away after about 5 minutes but i have no clue.

Is it a rod knock? Check your oil level.

Could be just valve adjustment.

Have somebody follow you in another car, cruise along at about 20 in second gear and then floor it. Your assistant looks for the telltale blue smoke. If you get smoke, the engine is getting tired, though it will still go for quite a while if you keep putting oil in it.

my 92 cx would make that noise when its really cold outside for a few seconds. Could be the rod bearings are going or it takes a second for the oil pressure to build up if its been sitting for a while

Honda's will burn some oil when u get on it, its how they are. However, get the valves adjusted, and maybe switch to synthetic oil.......see if the problem persists.
