Default Let transmission sit without fluid?

Long story short, I'm in a pinch and may have to let my transmission sit without fluid for ~24 hours. I have a 2000 Civic LX.

Is that okay? The dealership is closed and it is the only place I can get a new crush seal for the transmission drain plug. I destroyed the old one getting it off the plug before realizing the new one the dealership gave me is too big.

Bastards!!

So is it okay to let my automatic transmission sit for 24 hours without fluid?

That will be OK. Of course, do not run the engine before you have it full again.

just bring the gaskit to pepboys,NAPA,advanced auto or any other car parts store and match up the size. there usually 99 cents compared to 5 dollars at a dealer.

its not a gasket. Its a soft-metal crush washer. I already tried to get it at one of the chain stores and they didn't have the right size. Thank you for the help though.

Oh okay, sorry for my misunderstanding. I thought you were referring to something rubber.

I ended up letting it sit for a day with no fluid. Filled it up today with Honda transmission fluid and it runs very well. Fixed my slipping issues, in fact. Hopefully I can eek out another 50k miles. Thanks for your input, guys.
