Loss of Power
Hey everyone...this question has probably been addressed, but I searched through the posts & couldn't find a problem like mine. I drive a 97 Honda Civic Ex. I just had the timing belt/water pump replaced. The problem I am having is that there are times when she just isn't running as she should. Sometimes when I start up - she'll zip along fine. Other times (especially after driving it for awhile) it feels as though there is a loss of power. Kind of like when you drive with you're a/c on...not a big loss, but noticable. Every time I tell my mechanic, he can't find anything wrong with it. I drive it all the time so I can definately notice the loss...any ideas? Thanks. Oh plugs, dist. & wires changed around 85k (it has 110k on it now)
Good idea on the fuel system, a partially plugged filter can cause intermittent power changes. You could pull off the distributor and make sure the contacts are clean. Anything on them reduced the current making the spark weaker and thus robbing power. It is just likely that the timing belt/tune up is making the car feel different but the power loss might be more imagined than actual. Only legit data can tell you for sure.
