Exclamation Loss of power, and RPM and speed-o needles bouncing??

I have a 1997 civic ex 4cyl V-Tech 5speed manual, and just recently it started acting funny. While driving(in no specific gear) the RPM gauge starts bouncing then just falls, also notice a severe loss of power. Sometimes it seems that if I gun it I kind of comes out of it and the gauge starts working again.? Wandering if it alternator issue, fuel issue, some other electrical issue. Just weird because of the loss of power. The engine and transmission are in great shape...

If it's only the tachometer doing that, it could be the ICM. If the speedometer also drops to zero even though the car is still moving, you are probably losing electrical power. Is the check engine light coming on?

Default Check engine light

No, the check engine light isnt on. It's weird, because the radio will shut off and the tachometer will drop to nothing and a loss of power but car still runs.?

Check connections to battery-alternator, fuse box-engine, grounds. Check connections to cluster too. Alternator can go bad and just barely keep the car running, just not running good. When the car is running disconnect the battery negative, if the car dies you probably need a new alternator. If you can check off the power system then maybe take a look at fuel line, fuel filter, fuel pump but that does not seems likely to be the issue to me. If all else fails check the engine/dash harness and possibly replace the whole thing or bad parts.
