A low cost proven solution to air bag warning light
Hello
I have browsed these forums on many occasions and wanted to give something back. After diagnosis and component change with a main dealer (clock springs, > £1000 no cure) and then being told change the bag I was letting the problem ride until mot time. Last summer I stored vehicle (2013 1.6 Dtec) in the garage during the hot summer while travelling for three months. On return and driving vehicle no warning light for maybe 1000k then reoccurring.
This got me thinking so I invested a cautious 7 euros in moisture absorbing pots from Action, a Chinese outlet store. The vehicle has now been fault free for 8 months with one change of the pots. So, IMHO atmospheric moisture causing the Micro Electronic Mechanical System (MEMS) to report failed state when tested by the central processor.
