Default Maint Req'd Light Will Not Turn Off

Hey guys. Newbie here, first post in this forum.
My gf has an 03 Civic EX Coupe (Gen VII) imported from Florida to Canada and its been a great car so far. No problems what so ever aside from this small issue.
For some reason the Maint Req'd light will not turn off. I have tried to reset it myself by following the step by step instructions in the owners manual many times on different occasions. No Luck.
The shop I take the car to (Active G&R) has tried as well, and after taking it to the nearby Honda dealership the car had the tech's dumbfounded as to why the light would not turn off. They suggested I could replace the gauge cluster to fix it...

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a simple fix without ripping the gauge cluster out.

Many thanks in advance. Cheers

On my civic (98) I can just push the thing in on the gauge cluster with a key and it resets. I don't know if yours is the same.
Even if it stays on it doesn't matter other than being annoying.

hey. i have a 2002 civic (same generation as yours, VII) and in my manual (because i had this same problem) it said to have the car off, but make sure you have your keys ready. hold the trip button (assuming yours has the single digital trip display and only one button to cycle through the mileage, and trip meters) and then put the car in accessory (position II). while having the button held down, you should hold it until you see the light turn off. it should be about 10 seconds or so. once its out. its out. it is just a timer for your oil and such. every time you change oil, you should re-set it if your someone who would forget it.
