Default need advice on a d16y8

im really new into the whole import seen here in hawaii, and i have picked up a 2000 civic ex with only 40500 miles. the gas prices here are going up almost everyother week. i was wondering what aftermarket parts i could add on to up on the performance, but also save GAS!!!!! and not put any stress on my engine, this is my daily driver. ty for all who reply

I put a CAI and catback exhaust and got me to about 32mpg, I haven't tried to hypermile it yet, and I drive it like I stole it. My driving style hasn't changed and I was getting about 27mpg before modifications. The performance gain is pretty small, there is nothing fast about a ex with the SOHC (in stock form). I also changed my fluids out to synthetic, both in the engine and trans, spark plugs and wires. Good luck man!
